Tormach Inc. recently unveiled their newest product, the AF50 Autofeed Bandsaw. This is the company’s first bandsaw offering. The AF50 is a fully automatic bandsaw. It can be programmed to work autonomously on uncut stock, unsupervised. The technology was created with intention for users who have been operating on manual and semi-automatic bandsaws and want to boost productivity. According to the company, it also complements their already existing line of CNC milling machines and lathes.

The AF50 uses a pneumatic clamping system to produce consistent and repeatable cuts. An adjustable soft-squeeze allows it to hold various-sized materials—ranging from thin-walled tubing to 7-inch round steel bars. A single-phase power 115 Vac hydraulic feed control powers the bandsaw, enabling it to cut lengths from 0.157” - 50” (4mm - 1270mm).

“These new saws are designed to bring automation, better efficiency, and maximum convenience into the machining or fabrication shop,” says Lori Morrison Bufalo, Marketing Director at Tormach. “They provide power and ease-of-use, allowing operator-free cutting of stock, and at an affordable price.”

Despite being their first bandsaw product, the company still intended for the AF50 to be an affordable, budget-friendly technology. The AF50 is currently priced at $5,495. However, according to Tormach, a premium package will also be made available. The premium package will include numerous additions such as a heavy-duty flexible roller table, replacement blade brush, and coolant. It is priced at $5,832.

“The return on investment on these new saws is fast, since they require so little operator intervention,” adds Bufalo. “Shops that have been buying their stock pre-cut will especially notice the fast payback.”
