A3 Decides to Cancel Vision Show due to Rising COVID-19 Outbreak

The Association for Advancing Automation (A3) has announced in a press release that The Vision Show and Conference, which was scheduled to be held from June 9-11, 2020, in Boston, has been canceled amid the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

The association confirmed that this decision was made in consultation with the AIA Vision Show Committee, which is made up of exhibitors and the association boards of directors.

Jeff Burnstein, the president of A3, said, “We didn’t make this decision lightly, but the safety of our visitors and exhibitors is our top priority. Out of an abundance of caution, we felt it best to cancel now.” He further stated that “It’s unfortunate because The Vision Show has grown into one of the marquee events of the vision industry. The Vision Show will be back—and it will be stronger than ever.”

However, in order to make available the latest developments in vision technology, A3 is planning to arrange an online Vision Conference later this year.

In addition, A3 has postponed two more of its events, the Autonomous Mobile Robot Conference and the International Collaborative Robot Conference, until fall 2020.

Some additional conferences affected by the virus include LASER World of Photonics in Shanghai, , scheduled for March 18 and now postponed until July 3-5; Photonics Europe in Strasbourg, France, scheduled for March 29-April 2 and now tentatively postponed until July; Machine Vision Conference in Milton Keynes, England, scheduled for May 14 and now canceled but will have several educational sessions available online to conference registrants; and Embedded Vision Summit in Santa Clara, Calif., scheduled for May 18-21 and now postponed until October 2020.

Although the ongoing cancelations of events all over the world will help to control the spread of this deadly virus, it is adversely impacting the global economy.

We will continue to bring you more updates on this topic. Until then, stay safe.
