The Youth Science Fair fosters the inspiration and passion of makers, while giving them guidance as to where to apply their interests. Make: Projects! is providing the Youth Science Fair an environment where creativity and the pursuit of science can be explored. Our future may well rely on advanced technology such as quantum engineering, IOT, robotics, avionics, aeronautical engineering and space science. The Youth Science Fair allows for us as viewers to see what is and will be in the works for future scientific leaps.

Due to COVID-19 and having to protect ourselves with physical distancing, the national science fair has moved online with the help of the joint venture between Make: Community and engineering.com’s ProjectBoard. Students from Grades 7 to 12 across Canada have shared their projects for viewing and judging from May 20-29, 2020. Everyone is welcome to enjoy their endeavors and passion, and the most outstanding projects will display a ribbon.  The selection will be done by a group of ambassadors, from engineering schools in Canada.

Engineering.com and MAKE: have introduced a strategic initiative, involving young innovators and a virtual platform to display the Youth Science Fair to foster the most exciting engineering and economic value in our time of need.

Astronaut Joshua Kutryk congratulates students for their work on science fair projects.

Astronaut Joshua Kutryk shares his congratulations to the YSC Fair participants. Coordinating and developing a science project takes a tremendous amount of dedication, hard work and passion—and this passion to find solutions that inspire a positive change in our world is more important today than ever. The skills developed through collaboration and research are methods that young scientists and soon-to-be engineers can carry on throughout their years and eventually into their careers.

The Projects

The virtual fair allows students and makers to funnel their determination into a structured process. The YSC Fair is divided into social causes that young inventors and makers can use to categorize their projects: Agriculture, Fisheries & Food, Curiosity & Ingenuity, Digital Technology, Disease & Illness, Energy, Environment & Climate Change, Health & Wellness, and Natural Resources.

A few notable projects -- out of the almost 1,000 submitted projects submitted:

Each project aims to somehow provide an improvements to our lives. The goal of this fair is to mix creativity and intelligence with fun. Then, a positive reinforcement of winning will foster pride and encourage a future pursuit in technology.

View Projects, Leave Comments, Get Involved – Inspire!

Young minds want to create and experiment, and they move fast—and with direction and organization, fantastic thoughts have been presented. The YSC Fair is a light house, that can shine attention on much-needed discoveries. A space such as this also opens up room to learn from mistakes, as some innovations may not be perfect. However, they are not considered accidents, only quality incidents.

YSC Fair encourages determination, fosters passion and develops and offers an environment where the pursuit of science can be explored. This opens up new ways and new perspectives, to offer current and developing STEM advancements to incorporate upcoming findings and technologies. As well, the fair teaches leadership skills, cooperation and collaboration, as this space allows youths to mingle safely and with guidance.

Come join us from May 20th – 29th 2020!
