Esteco Introduces New VOLTA and modeFRONTIER Updates

Digital engineering solutions developer Esteco has unveiled the latest update for its VOLTA and modeFRONTIER solutions. The update features PyConsole, a new Python-based environment for modeFRONTIER that enables users to visualize data and perform predictive modeling through Python libraries.

Users can also expect an improved direct interface with product simulation software Simcenter STAR-CCM+. VOLTA also now comes with a new interface that expands its Planner environment capabilities for broader simulation design and optimization. This is the second 2021 Release update, with the previous version introduced back in March 2021.

These new features are mainly enhancements for the initial modeFRONTIER Sensitivity Analysis tool and VOLTA intuitive interface updates. The Sensitivity Analysis tool uses an Effect table chart that helps users visualize the results of a sensitivity model to reduce engineering problem complexity. The original VOLTA Planner helps in the creation, reuse and application of multiple plans within a simulation workflow.

modeFRONTIER is desktop software for process automation and optimization in engineering design applications. The new PyConsole environment is based on the Python 3 standard. The new extended design space capabilities have resulted in enhanced data analysis customization and visualization charts. This allows users to leverage Python’s numerical and graphical libraries. Datasets can be easily imported from modeFRONTIER tables and plotted into the selected Python environment and Python charts library. Similarly, users can also export datasets from PyConsole to a modeFRONTIER design space, which can be used as native tables. Users can also build improved predictive models using their preferred Python libraries.

VOLTA is Esteco’s collaborative web platform offering for simulation process and data management (SPDM) and design optimization. VOLTA’s new Planner environment provides improved simulation workflow, enabling users to easily configure parameters, constraints and objectives within the software. This means better design optimization and strategizing for multidisciplinary simulation development. According to Esteco, this new functionality serves as a valuable traceability visualization feature that can be easily accessed to check the configurations for each simulation plan.

The new interface also features improved usability for modular environments. Some of the highlights include:

  • A reorganized navigation pane that provides efficient access to data and simulation projects
  • A simplified search bar that is integrated within the new navigation pane
  • A new visual design of “breadcrumbs, page titles, and icons” that indicates where users are on the VOLTA platform

Multiphysics computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software Simcenter STAR-CCM+ will integrate into the modeFRONTIER automated workflow. This helps simplify the process automation creation while removing the need to provide a custom Java macro for each Star-CCM+ model.

The new updates are designed to facilitate collaboration across various teams within an organization, allowing for the smart allocation of computational resources, as well as the secure storing and tracing of simulation data. Esteco is currently working on further consolidating specialized expertise, streamlining teamwork and boosting product development in different industrial sectors.
