Earlier in July, Ashlar-Vellum announced the newest addition to its Designer Elements product line: Lithium v12. The Lithium CAD software allows engineers, designers and architects to sketch and draft with ease to accelerate product design and development.

Lithium v12 Adds to Ashlar-Vellum’s Suite of CAD Software
CAD software replaces manual drafting with a computer-assisted and automated process. Lithium v12 aims to provide intuitive user interface for easy drafting and idea creation in various design applications.
Ashlar-Vellum’s CAD software includes Graphite and Lithium software for 2D and 3D drafting and Cobalt, Xenon, and Argon for 3D modeling and printing. All software is fully compatible with Mac and Windows operating systems, providing an interface for designers and engineers to draft without them having to worry about running the software. Lithium v12 currently supports 64-bit operating systems and 64-bit memory.
One of the Lithium v12 software benefits is that you do not need to be an engineer to use the tool. Architects, industrial designers and more can use the software to transition from initial 2D sketches to advanced 3D wireframe designs. Lithium v12 Takes Advantage of Ashlar-Vellum Tools
Similar to Ashlar-Vellum’s other CAD software, Lithium v12 uses the Organic Workflow system, which allows for a nonlinear workflow to foster spontaneity and align with the design process and creative thinking. The workflow includes a holistic tool palette that integrates engineering and design tools into one interface to perform everything from free sketching to precision engineering drafts in one program mode.
Beyond the Organic Workflow, Lithium v12 also includes the Vellum Drafting Assistant to help facilitate automatic alignments in the X-, Y- and Z-axes that anticipate design choices and speed up the drafting process. The Drafting Assistant will automatically display options for the center, endpoint, midpoint, tangent, perpendicular and more. With geometric and equation-driven parameters, the Lithium software creates a simple, efficient system for generating and developing design ideas.
