Elysium Updates CAD Doctor and Drawing Validator

Elysium has released updates to three of its model-based engineering solutions. The new releases improve how the tools work with Siemens NX 1926 and 1953 series as well as Creo 7.

  • CAD Doctor SX5.3.1. This new release includes NX 1926 and 1953 series.
  • Drawing Validator Version 2.3. Simplifies HTML reports to a single file and fixed the detection of Break View.
  • CAD Feature 16.0 M5. Quality improvements and bug fixes.
Elysium has developed a range of model-based engineering solutions that focus on CAD Interoperability. More simply, they offer a set of tools that help companies translate CAD data between various engineering tools. Between the three new releases, these applications handle a range of tasks.
CAD Doctor offers several advantages for groups whose workflow finds them working with multiple non-integrated engineering processes. Best-in-class solutions do not necessarily automatically handle data conversions. CAD Doctor does detection and repair of errors in translated CAD data, geometry verification, simplification and optimization for various processes such as FEA, CFD and more. This can be important for removing fine detail (defeaturing) to get faster results for a less densely meshed model. Overall, your downstream processes will benefit from a more efficient data flow.
Drawing Validator compares drawings and offers a report of differences and shows you differences. Elysium has worked to eliminate false positives from things like repositioned views so the report contains only relevant data. These capabilities can be important in exported drawings as well as in verification and validation in your engineering change workflow.
CAD Feature offers real interoperability when migrating CAD systems. It will bring over features between CAD systems as well as associative drawings, assembly relationships and important metadata. Moving between systems should no longer be an exercise in manually remodeling stacks of parts, assemblies and drawings and worrying about what you’ve missed. Your design intent was important enough to create in the first place, you should be able to take it with you when you move to a new system.
The other products offered by Elysium are:
  • ASFALIS – 3D data exchange for global enterprise
  • Infipoints – enables larger point clouds for reverse engineering
  • DFM Studio – Design for manufacturing analysis system
If your business regularly shares data between non-integrated systems, equipping yourself with dedicated tools for checking the quality and reliability of your data could save you a lot of time, errors and rework. If you could ensure that your vendors and suppliers always got good data from you, and you were always able to guarantee the quality of the data they sent you in return, wouldn’t you do it? These tools are not always offered by the major CAD vendors.
