Laptop maker Eurocom has launched the Nightsky RX315 Superlaptop, a new mobile workstation available with a 15.6” OLED 4K display.

Eurocom is bullish on the Nightsky RX315 as a robust competitor on the laptop market. The new laptop is geared for the world of high-performance mobile computing, and intended to provide a balance of customization options, upgradability, performance, and mobility.

The Nightsky RX315 is equipped with an Intel Core i7-11800H CPU, which offers eight cores and 16 threads, 24 MB of L3 cache, a 2.3 GHz base clock, and a 45 W power draw. The Nightsky RX315 also comes with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 or 3080 graphics, up to 64 GB DDR4-3200 memory, and up to 16 TB M.2 NVMe storage.

The RX315 is encased in a black 5052 aluminum alloy to provide panache and protection to internal components. The RX315 aims to be thin and lightweight, weighing 4.4 lbs (2 kg) and measuring 0.8 inches (20 mm) in thickness.

The Nightsky’s OLED Display

Eurocom offers two display options for the Nightsky RX315: the high-res 60 Hz OLED, and a less expensive FHD alternative that can run at 240 Hz. OLED screens don’t require backlighting or filters, making them more efficient and thinner than LCDs while enhancing contrast ratios.

"The Eurocom Nightsky RX315 with Samsung 15.6" OLED 4K UHD offers our customers displays that even the best TN and IPS panels can’t touch, including extremely high contrast levels, ultra-fast response times and no screen bleeding,” said Mark Bialic, Eurocom President. “This display panel coupled with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 3080 graphics, 64 GB DDR4-3200 memory in an ultra-portable, upgradeable 15.6” chassis has our customers extremely excited.”

Eurocom also offers professional display calibration for the Nightsky RX315.

“Many years ago, Eurocom was one of the first manufacturers offering display calibration for our customers. As many of our customers are leading designers, engineers and digital content creators, having a perfectly calibrated display is essential,” Bialic continued.

Besides the display options, users can customize the Eurocom Nightsky RX315 in several ways. For graphics, users have a choice between the NVIDIA RTX 3070 with 8 GB of VRAM or the NVIDIA RTX 3080 with 16 GB of VRAM. Both cards are the efficiency-focused Max-Q variant. Users can customize the memory and storage configurations, select RAID 0 or 1 for the hard drives, choose between wireless LAN chips, add an internal card reader, add a TV tuner, and more. In what may be configuration overkill, users can even select the thermal paste used for the GPU and CPU heatsink.

As far as I/O ports, the Nightsky RX315 offers a Thunderbolt 4 port, three USB 3.0 ports, one DisplayPort, one Mini DisplayPort, one HDMI 2.0 port, a 2-in-1 audio jack, and an RJ45.

The RX315 isn’t the only lightweight, customizable laptop Eurocom has released recently. In December, the company unveiled the 15.6” Nightsky ARX315 with an AMD Ryzen 5000 series processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 graphics. That notebook weighs 5.7 lbs (2.6 kg) and is aimed at gamers, creative professionals, and engineers.
