CAD Exchanger has just released the latest version of its toolset for 3D software developers and CAD users—v3.11.0. CAD Exchanger, founded by Roman Lygin, allows users to view, convert and explore 3D CAD files from various CAD platforms, such as AutoCAD, Tinkercad, SOLIDWORKS and many more. The software also supports different filetypes, including STL, OBJ and STEP, just to name a few. CAD Exchanger can be run on both desktop and mobile systems and includes tools that can help users measure parts, analyze information, and create sections and exploded views.

Software development kits (SDKs) and other tools are also available for software developers such as:

CAD Exchanger SDK: C++, C# and Java libraries for applications and software as a service (SaaS) solutions
CAD Exchanger CLI: lightweight command-line tool for batch conversions in corporate or cloud environments
CAD Exchanger Web Toolkit: JavaScript libraries to visualize 3D CAD in web apps
CAD Exchanger Cloud Service API: REST API to securely convert CAD files in the cloud without any infrastructure deployment

New User Interface

For visual and functional consistency, the toolbars and settings were reorganized, the notification algorithm was enhanced and the overall design was improved.

The CAD Exchanger team explains that the goal behind the enhancements and improvements was to make the entire toolset easier to access and navigate; streamline the import, export and meshing settings; and develop a reliable base for forthcoming features.

Customer Corner

This is the one-stop access point to all user licenses. Users can access all their licenses by creating their accounts on my.cadexchanger.com. The Customer Corner provides a straightforward visual overview of a customer’s licenses and downloadable installation packages, as well as gives users the ability to share licenses with a team. After a customer confirms the email, the system will load all the licenses linked to that email address.

2D Drawing to DXF Export

This feature was added to provide fuller 2D geometry support across the platform. It allows developers to enable their CAD application to export 2D CAD data via the DXF file format. DXF, which stands for Drawing Exchange Format, is an open-source file format that allows interoperability between various third-party CAD software platforms. DXF files can be used to transfer 2D geometry to non-Autodesk CAD platforms, CNC machines or other 3D formats.

When collaborating on a big project with clients, vendors and various project stakeholders outside of an organization, the odds of everyone using the same CAD platforms are pretty low. The ability to collaborate in this multi-CAD world with CAD Exchanger ensures that everyone involved at every point of the project life cycle is working off the same CAD data, providing open communication channels and greatly increasing the chances of project success.
