Siemens NX Wins 2022 SaaS Award

Awarding & Consultancy International is an organization based in New York City that offers annual award programs in the business software areas of Cloud, SaaS and Digital Security. The awards were established to identify and showcase the most innovative organizations in these fields today.

SaaS Awards comprise dozens of categories ranging from Law & Legal to Risk Management. Siemens NX won in the category Best SaaS Product for Engineering Management, PLM or CAD.

Annabelle Whittall, lead judge for SaaS Awards, said, “Siemens stood out at SaaS Awards 2022 because Siemens’ NX system offers seamless interoperability between on-premise desktop CAD software and cloud-native CAD software, resulting in less friction in the engineering workspace. A well-deserved win for Siemens.”

This highlights not just the pure cloud capabilities but also the fact that NX is able to work in both cloud and local spaces, integrating data seamlessly in a hybrid enterprise. Siemens specifically pursued a strategy that would combine cloud and on-premises software backed by a common and secure data management backbone.

This hybrid approach is beneficial for existing Siemens customers with mature CAD implementations that can also immediately reap the benefits of simply adding a cloud component instead of starting over with a new solution. Siemens customers have varied needs. SaaS is a perfect fit for many product development scenarios, but it’s not universal. Even within a single organization, there may be the need for multiple strategies. In this respect, Siemens has been able to capitalize on its past success with NX while pivoting to meet evolving needs with minimal disruption to its customers’ processes.

James Williams, head of Operations for Cloud Awards said, “Siemens NX is a worthy winner of the SaaS Awards, offering something that truly stood out in an incredibly competitive category.” Competition for the recognition that comes with this award saw hundreds of organizations from around the globe submit applications.

With regard to the level of competition, Bob Haubrock senior VP of Product Engineering Software, said, “It is an incredible honor to be a winner in the international SaaS Awards, where competition was topmost this year.” Some of the other organizations competing for this award were Onshape, Workspot and Jellyfish.

Although it is not specifically mentioned by either SaaS Awards or Siemens in the Best SaaS Product for Engineering Management, PLM or CAD 2022 announcement, Teamcenter is Siemens’ solution for PLM process and data management. Teamcenter would be the “common and secure data management backbone” referred to earlier. NX and Teamcenter must work hand in hand both on-premises and in the cloud to achieve the requirements against which SaaS Awards judged the applicants.

NX is a 3D CAD, simulation and manufacturing solution, whereas Teamcenter manages the data, people, workflow and processes for organizations developing and manufacturing products. These two large and complex applications have been purpose-built to work together seamlessly and to function together as a unified operation.

Siemens NX well deserves this award from SaaS Awards for developing business process software that works to help manufacturers meet their current and projected needs while integrating existing solutions that will continue to be in demand for some time.
