Siemens PLM Software has announced the release of NX 8.5, the latest version of their premier 3D CAD/CAM/CAE tool. Its integrated suite of design, analysis & manufacturing tools continues to push forward their ambitious vision of HD-PLM to engineers and designers.
On the design side, they've continued to leverage their synchronous technology by adding both brand new tools, and improvements to existing ones. This strategy will improve design efficiency in areas such as feature modeling, sheet metal design, freeform modeling, validation checking, and drafting. Streamlined workflows coupled with user interface enhancements will also increase the productivity of product design.
From the simulation perspective, the improvements to their toolset (now including NX Nastran®) include improvements in areas such as simulation modeling, structural, thermal, flow, motion and multi-physics analyses and improved solver performance times. This version also includes a new Shape Optimization capability that suggest improvements to existing design geometry.
Manufacturing engineers will be pleased to see improvements in both multi-part and multi-stage machining, a new CAM tool library, improved CAM data management, and a new CMM quality inspection programing capability.
NX 8.5 should be available in October 2012.
