The Prowler: A 3D Printed RC Car

I’ve always been a fan of RC cars, and I’ve owned quite a few, ranging from tiny Tamiya track cars to large and expensive racers. So when I found out about the Prowler, I was delighted.

Essentially the Prowler is a 3D-printed body modification of a stock RC car, but really that’s selling this project short. Andrew, the car’s designer, chose to create the Prowler as a way to learn Solidworks.  With a well-defined set of design criteria at its foundation (drivable when assembled, unique design, structurally sound), Andrew modeled a suspension system, frame and body that gives the three-wheeled Prowler its aggressive look.

After an exhaustive series of research and iterations (seriously, look at his design sketches), Andrew’s design was printed and tested, and as you can see in the video below, his Prowler is one amazing RC car.
