This morning AVEVA released their new Plant Design software, AVEVA E3D -- a.k.a. AVEVA Everything3D. This marks their first public step forward since announcing their new "Future of Plant Design" initiative just a few short weeks ago.
AVEVA is focusing on streamlining project delivery by reducing the amount of rework necessary on typical plant design projects. By streamlining design, they expect to improve the end-to-end efficiency throughout a project's design, fabrication, and construction phases.
AVEVA E3D boasts new capabilities such as...
- Integrating laser scanning with 3D modeling.
- More intuitive 3D plant modeling.
- Integrated 2D and 3D geometry tools.
- Easier and more intuitive user interfaces.
- Allow team members to operate in parallel on all aspects of project information.
Although 3D design and modeling is common in the product design market, it is not as mainstream in engineering vertical markets such as plant design. AVEVA is touting a possible 10-20% reduction in project costs using these tools.
On a side note... AVEVA deserves credit for not using the word "reimagine" in any of their press and marketing materials. Bravo indeed!
