Designing the Supercar’s Supercar

Ludicrously expensive modes of transportation aren’t just popular with video game villains, apparently. With a twin turbocharged flat six engine capable of 750 horsepower, Beirut-based W Motor’s new Lykan Hypersport can reach a hundred kilometers per hour in 2.8 seconds and has a maximum speed  of395 kilometers per hour, but what really makes it special isn’t muscle – it’s style.

The Hypersport features gold stitched leather seats and a “virtual holographic display” for its dashboard. W Motors CEO Ralph E. Debbas thought even that wasn’t going far enough, and decided the world needed a new symbol for outrageous wealth: “I wanted to integrate diamonds… inside the LED lights, and this is the first car in the world, and the only car in the world that has diamond-encrusted LEDs.” And if diamonds aren’t your thing, the LEDs can be tailored to contain rubies, emeralds or sapphires to match the car's color scheme.

And if, after all that, you still have money to burn, each car will have a signature plate mounted atop its body that details the car’s delivery date and serial number – and you can guarantee it’ll be in the single digits, as W Motors only plans on making seven.

The price for a limited run, diamond encrusted, hyper-engineered machine? $3.4 million. Yeah, that sounds about right.

Oh, and it also comes with a $200,000 Cyrus Klepsky watch.
