McLaren's P1 - Fast and Expensive

In just a few days McLaren Automotive will unveil their highly anticipated P1 sportscar at the 83rd International Geneva Motor Show.

Since its inception in 1963, McLaren has created some of the finest performance cars in the world. With 182 Formula 1 race victories under their belts, the company is known for pushing the limits of automotive engineering. Their latest model, the P1, doesn’t veer from that course.

One of the P1’s most revolutionary systems is its Instant Power Assist System (IPAS). According to McLaren the IPAS will accelerate the P1 from “Zero to 100km/h [in under] 3 seconds, zero to 200 km/h under 7 seconds, and zero to 300 km/h will be achieved in no more than 17 seconds.” McLaren continues, “Putting that into perspective, that’s 5 seconds faster than the legendary McLaren F1 road car.”

But what will this type of performance cost you? McLaren says that a P1 fully equipped for road and track use will cost £866,000 ($1,131,688). While that might seem a bit pricey for an everyday road car, consider that some supercars are going for much, much more.

If you are thinking about buying a P1 my advice would be to act fast. McLaren says it’s limiting production to a mere 375 vehicles, and they’re sure to be quickly snapped up by speed enthusiasts around the globe.
