Chrysler Revs Up the SRT Viper’s Performance

A few months ago, Chrysler announced its new 2013 SRT Viper at the New York Motor Show. The 10-cylinder muscle car was said to have a top speed of 206 miles per hour, and a 0 to 60 time of just under 3 seconds.

Apparently unsatisfied, the engineers enlisted the help of professional race car drivers to develop a new performance package, dubbed the Time Attack.

Composed of a new carbon-fiber aerodynamic kit and a redesigned spoiler, the Time Attack cuts through the atmosphere with precision and unbelievable speed. Although there has been no further tuning to the already impressive 640 horsepower engine, Chrysler’s upgraded Bilstein DampTronic suspension system will maximize all of that engine’s potential.

The most dramatic improvement lies in the car’s structure. In other Vipers the x-brace is composed of aluminum, but the Time Attack x-brace will be made of carbon fiber, lightening the load the machine has to bear while also increasing it stiffness and rigidity.

Like nearly all high end sports cars, the Time Attack is more of a collector’s item than a real car – Chrysler plans to produce only 33 in total. The SRT Viper Time Attack and it’s updated performance stats will debut at the 2013 New York International Autoshow later this month.
