The standard RidgidBot comes with a 10 x 10 X 10-inch build volume, but if that’s not enough room for your prints, look no further than the RidgidBot Big. With a 12 x 16 x 10-inch build volume, this DIY 3D printer might be the biggest DIY model we’ve ever seen.
But that huge build volume doesn’t really add up to much if the printer has a low print resolution. According to RigidBot, when compared against the Makerbot Replicator 2, both RidgidBot models perform extremely well. On the three resolution settings (high, med, and low), the MakerBot Replicator 2 can only match the RigidBot on the highest setting (100 microns). On the other two settings the RigidBot blows the Replicator out of the water.
But the thing that really catches my interest is RigidBot’s price. In comparison to the Replicator 2, the RIgidBot Big cost $899, a whopping $1,300 savings.
Although the RigidBot’s Kickstarter campaign was successfully funded in less than 24 hours, there’s still time to show your support and get a RidgidBot Big for a pledge of $499.
