BricsCAD v13.2 - More than a Dot Release

Can 2D get any better? I would have thought that problem was solved by now, but apparently not.  Bricsys recently released a new version of its flagship software BricsCAD, now in 64-bits.

Maybe drawing lines and arcs hasn’t changed much because the enhancements to BricsCAD v13.2 is more about hardware and collaboration than geometry including over 20 new features and 50 fixes.  Highlights of the release include:

  • Native 64-bit support for MS Windows installations (32-bit on Linux)

  • Support for the 2013 .dwg format via Open Design Alliance’s Teigha libraries.

  • Cloud connectivity via Chapoo (pronounced sha-poo). (Youtube example)

You can view the entire list of new features, enhancements, and fixes from the BricsCAD release notes. http://www.bricsys.com/common/releasenotes.jsp

In all, I’m amazed at the number of improvements for a dot release. usually these types of enhancements are saved for a major release.  And, for the price ranging between $445 to $985, BricsCAD is an affordable alternative for 2D AEC, GIS, Civil, Process & Power, and Mechanical CAD.
