Swedish auto maker Volvo has begun testing a car with automated parking capabilities. The idea goes something like this:
Once you’ve reached your destination, simply hop out of your Volvo and use your cellphone to instruct the car to go park itself. At this point Volvo’s autonomous drive system would pilot your car to an open space and message you when it was parked safely.
When you want your car back simply head to a pre-defined pick-up zone and use the same Volvo app to start your car and reverse the parking process.
While Volvo hasn’t made it clear if this feature will ever be integrated into their cars it does seem like this kind of technology is becoming trendy in the automaker community.
