X-47B Drone Completes First Autonomous Carrier Landing

Earlier today the Navy's X-47B stealth drone landed aboard the USS George H. W. Bush aircraft carrier. The drone's landing marks the first time an autonomous vehicle to land itself on the moving deck of an aircraft carrier.

The X47-B, nicknamed Salty Dog 502, took off from the Naval Air Station on Patuxent River and landed atop the carrier deck somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Virginia.
