Designer Edge Image of the Day – The Nike Sports Research Lab

For the past few decades Nike has been at the forefront of sports equipment development. From new sweat wicking fabrics to superlight sneakers Nike’s products have always sought to advance the abilities of the human body.

As we all know, the human body is a really complicated system. To quantify all of its actions Nike has created the Nike Sport Research Lab where human performance can be turned into information to guide product design.

Among the numerous facilities and tools located in the lab are a series of motion capture rooms, environmental chambers and a copper mannequin named Hal who gives Nike info about the breathability of their new fabrics.
