Area 51 has long held a coveted place in the minds of conspiracy theorists. In recently released CIA documents officials have acknowledged the bases existence, and say its purpose was much less spectacular than had been rumored.
According to documents the Area 51 site, located about 125 miles northwest of Las Vegas was actually used as a testing facility for the Cold War U-2 and OXCART surveillance programs.
For those who truly believe in paranormal oddities the CIA’s documents are likely to spawn conversations of a further cover-up. All I can say is that the truth is out there .
