V10 Concept Car from Audi

Just ahead of the Frankfurt Motor Show, Audi has surprised and wowed audiences with its Nanuk Quattro concept.

Driven by a twin-turbocharged V10 TDI engine, the Nanuk delivers 544 horsepower and an impressive 738 foot-pounds of force. With all this power, the Nanuk can zip from 0-100km/h (0-62mph) in 3.8 seconds and has a top speed of 306km/h (190 mph). If that weren’t enough, the new diesel concept also delivers an estimated 30 mpg – not bad for a supercar.

In addition to its ability to fly around the track while pulling monster loads, the Nanuk also comes with an integral steering system to make the car more maneuverable. According to Audi, “When the driver steers at low to moderate speeds, the rear wheels turn up to nine degrees in the opposite direction of the front wheels.  This shortens the wheelbase… reducing the turning circle to roughly 10 meters. When sliding around turns at high speed the same steering system will turn the rear wheel up to 2.5 degrees in the same direction as the front wheels giving the car greater stability.

To complete the package Audi commissioned Italdesign Giugiaro to package their machine in a sculpted carbon-fiber reinforced polymer outer skin that Audi openly admits borrows from Lamborghini’s Parcour off-road concept.

Regardless of whose style the Nanuk may be imitating, the power lurking beneath its exterior makes it a must drive for any fan of speed.
