CH2M HILL, a front-runner in full-service engineering, has partnered with Colorado State University (CSU) to offer two grad courses for partial fulfillment of a Systems Engineering Masters or PH.D.

Dr. Ron Sega, former NASA Astronaut, will serve as director of the new program. The program overview consists of four courses, two of which are offered online. The remaining two will be offered face-to-face at CH2M HILL’s Englewood, CO campus.

The courses under CH2M HILL’s umbrella are “Foundations of System Engineering” and “Engineering Project and Program Management.” The novel education model will partner classes with local corporations to give their experience a real world spin.

“We are honored that the business community in Denver’s South Metro region approached the CSU System,” said Dr. Sega, “and we’re committed to bringing real value to local students, families and industry in this fast-growing part of Colorado … The systems engineering program truly fills a strategic need for the region’s business community, and I’m excited about the opportunity to work with CH2M HILL to launch and grow this new endeavor.”

The courses will be available beginning this year. Concepts covered in the program will prepare engineers to be leaders in the systems engineering domain. Key focuses include project management, risk analysis, engineering processes and support systems. The target audience for the program consists of professionals in the aerospace, environment, energy, cyber/software, biosciences and various other related sectors.

Mike Martin, CSU System Chancellor, boasts that “the CSU System is tremendously proud to partner with CH2M HILL to bring this unique and innovative higher education concept to the South Denver region … By pairing the quality of CSU’s top-ranked engineering program with the international and national reputation of CH2M HILL, CSU Denver South will be able to provide convenient educational opportunities to students where they live and work, and clearly address the workforce needs of local industry.”

If you are unfamiliar with CH2M HILL’s credentials, they have 28,000 employees serving clients in the government, industrial, energy and civil sectors. They offer consulting, operations, design/design-build, and program management services. Their specialties include water, environment, energy, transportation, resources and facilities.

“CH2M HILL is honored to be partnering with Chancellor Martin and the CSU College of Engineering on their new graduate-level certificate program,” said Terry Ruhl, CH2M HILL’s Transportation President. “This represents a world-class opportunity in the South Denver area for students and practitioners to become familiar with the high-demand field of systems engineering and program management. As the No. 1 program management firm as ranked by Engineering News-Record, CH2M HILL knows the value of this course work and experience in the global marketplace. And as a graduate of CSU, I know first-hand the value this institution brings in developing the next generation of innovators, entrepreneurs, and corporate and civic leaders.”
