Additive Manufacturing Users Group Announces Keynote Speakers

With only a few months to go before the 2014 Additive Manufacturing Users Group (AMUG) Education & Training conference kicks off, the event’s keynote speakers have been officially announced.

Among the various events, activities and speeches that will take place in Tucson, Arizona between April 6-10, Todd Grimm, Jason Lopes and Dr. Mike North will all give addresses focused on their areas of expertise.

At the announcement Bret Brodner, AMUG president, praised each keynote speaker noting, “We are extremely pleased to have three well-known, well-respected keynote speakers to kick off our daily activities. Each of these speakers has interesting, insightful information to share, and each presents in an engaging way that will energize attendees for the day to come.”

To kick off the event Todd Grimm, President of T. A. Grimm & Associates and AMUG’s AM industry advisor, will give everyone a realistic look into the world of 3D printing, sharing his insights on the big picture for additive manufacturing.

To follow, Jason Lopes of Legacy Effects will open day two with a ‘backstage’ look at additive manufacturing’s role in feature films and commercials. Through a visual journey of Legacy Effects’ work Jason will detail how additive manufacturing solutions have helped bring blockbuster feature films like Avatar, Ironman and Pacific Rim to life.

To round out the conference, Dr. Mike North, founder and chair of Reallocate and North Design Lab, will discuss how 3D printing has the power to transform the world. In his talk North will share real world examples of how AM is making a positive impact in people’s lives, and peer into the future of using the technology for good.

With much more in store for this exciting conference, I can’t wait to be there to hear not only these keynote speeches, but your 3D printing stories as well.
