Ferrari’s New Turbo – The California T

While it’s been over 20 years since Ferrari has debuted a turbo model, the company is returning to that pedigree with its 2015 California-T.

Built around an aggressive, low slung frame, the 1,625kg (3,582lb) California T sports a 3.8L, V8 turbo that produces 552HP and 755Nm (556 ft-lb) of torque. With a top speed of 316km/h (196mph) and an a 0-100km/h (0-62mph) time of 3.6 seconds the California-T features a tremendous roar that’ll send any car enthusiast’s heart racing.

While some may be skeptical of turbo performance Ferrari has also introduced a new Variable Boost Management system that eliminates any hint of turbo lag, meaning the California-T is as responsive as can be.

Outside of its power plant the new Ferrari also features an emission system that produces 250g/km of CO2, some 15% less than its predecessors. With extremely responsive steering, a race inspired traction system and adaptive suspension technology the California-T represents a solid re-entry into the turbo market for the Italian automaker.

Although releases date and production numbers have yet to be confirmed Ferrari says its California-T can be had for $258,000.
