TransMagic New Release Enhances 3D CAD Interoperability

TransMagic is a 3D multi-CAD interoperability software vendor that develops applications for 3D CAD file translation, 3D model comparison, geometry repair, collaboration and viewing technologies. TransMagic recently released more than 100 different new features in its latest R11 release. These enhancements aim at making the product easier to use and also to improve the productivity of manufacturers working with 3D CAD. With R11, the TransMagic format (TMR) supports new features such as view capture and PMI (product and manufacturing information) making it as an archive format to save the state of a CAD model, including PMI and captured views.

Major enhancements include support for Model Based Definition (MBD), virtual mock-up tools

TransMagic R11 allows view or capture of manufacturing information in 3D form. The new PMI toolset enables users to work with metadata within 3D models and the PMI can be saved into different 3D formats such as STL and OBJ. The new PMI Browser lets users quickly review different scenes containing metadata and interrogate the associativity. Additional views can be created, captured or exported for clear communication across channels and downstream, in presentations and design reviews. When semantic PMI is selected in TransMagic, the corresponding geometry highlights to confirm association.

New virtual mock-up tools include Precise Positioning, which allows users to accurately place parts in an assembly.  The alignment features in toolset make the alignment exact and simple in the 3D space. The Dynamic Dimensioning and Micrometer tool accelerates manufacturing measurement or design mockup for estimating, packing and rapid prototyping. TransMagic R11 also includes Assembly Tree Manipulation – users can import parts in multiple formats to create a new assembly and parts can be scaled to the required size. New assembly management tools help navigate through complex 3D CAD data and open parts in a new document to work outside of the complex assembly and ability to move back modified part into original assembly. The Assembly Browser adds additional tools to find, view and reorganize assembly hierarchy for downstream use while the View Browser creates a catalog of standard and custom views that can be used for presentation and design reviews.

New supported CAD formats include:

3D PDF

Solid Edge

STEP AP 242

POD

Collada

JT config file

TransMagic’s core strength is in developing multi-CAD interoperability software applications. Its R11 release builds on these strength to further expand functions and improve usability with new tools such as assembly management, view browser etc. The extended support for new 3D CAD formats such as 3D pdf and JT config file was required to improve interoperability and collaboration especially in the automotive industry. With R11 TransMagic release, customers can expect a wider support for different 3D CAD formats and easy to use interface that will help solve complex design issues faster.
