In this episode, Lytle discusses in detail the benefits of taking an entrepreneurial approach in your engineering career including:
- You are able to identify the needs of your company or other people. This will give you an edge, if you can provide solutions catered to their needs.
- You know your value. When people hear your name, the first thing that they are going to think of or remember should be your expertise. Developing this expertise and making people aware of it, is called self-branding. This talent may also be referred to as your unique selling proposition.
- You know your passion. Keep on trying as many things as possible early on in your career to find your passion. Do internships and find that one thing that you are passionate about. There are a lot of opportunities in the field of engineering; you just have to find your niche.
- You take initiative. Being able to do things that people say you won’t be able to do.
Whether you’re a recent graduate or you own a business, having that entrepreneurial mindset can definitely help you succeed in your engineering career or business.
