Composite Industry Group Awards Digimat the Innovation of the Year Award

Digimat’s multi-scale material modeling platform.

The JEC Composites Group awarded the Digimat modeling platform a top innovation award in the design category. The award is presented to companies and organizations that have contributed to the improvement of composite technologies for end users.

Digimat is a non-linear, multi-scale material and structural design platform programmed by MSC Software’s e-Xstream engineering. The program allows engineers to perform analysis of composite material on the micro- and macro-scale. This allows users to better estimate the performance of the composite before physical prototyping. Additionally, Digimat gives engineers the ability to take into consideration both the manufacturing and composite constituents when assessing the material.

The Digimat platform is popular in the structural, material, Tier 1 and OEM industries. It helps the engineers in these fields to produce new and innovative composites.

"We have spent 11 years developing Digimat into the world's leading modeling solution for engineering composite materials and structures,” said Dr. Roger Assaker, CEO of e-Xstream engineering. “This recognition from JEC group is a great testimony to our technology's capabilities and the team that developed it."

Digimat’s ability to predict composite behaviour is what impressed the JEC Group judges. The organization believes that simulation technology like Digimat could unlock the full potential of composites to replace metals with lighter parts that have equivalent mechanical properties. The judges also appreciated the program’s ability to integrate into other design processes, making the transfer of data easier from structural analysis to the manufacturing floor.

Nicolas Baudry, Market Development Manager at JEC Composites Group said, "With the JEC Americas Boston event focusing specifically on simulation and design, the Digimat platform was a valuable addition to our long list of JEC Innovation Awards winners. Behavioral predictions of composite materials is a key topic that e-Xstream engineering covered perfectly.”
