NAFEMS to Conquer the New World

NAFEMS (the International Association for the Engineering Analysis Community) is looking to expand its CAE assistance in the Americas region. This expansion will breed new opportunities for simulation users and venders to exchange ideas, push the technology’s boundary, and identify best practices or standards.

Current, NAFEMS plans in the Americas include increased technical groups and activities, hosting the 2015 biennial NAFEMS World Congress in San Diego, a training event in Brazil, and numerous training seminars and courses. Two such seminars will be centered on simulation and systems engineering in the automotive and Oil & Gas industries.

“The increased commitment of NAFEMS to the Americas region will provide its members with significantly more opportunities to leverage unbiased multi-disciplinary engineering best practices and technical expertise,” said Dr. Rodney Dreisbach, Sr. Technical Fellow at Boeing and Chair of NAFEMS’ Americas Steering Committee.

He added, “For over 30 years, NAFEMS has served the international engineering analysis and simulation community and facilitated international industry, academia, and government collaboration … The Americas’ members have been very active in leading and participating on many of the NAFEMS Technical Working Groups.”

The expansion will include a head office in Granville, OH with the goal to develop the CAE networks and community in the Americas. It will include VP Matthew Ladzinski, and regional representative Andrew Wood.

Tim Morris, NAFEMS CEO, said “We have been carrying out activities in the US and Canada for a number of years now … A biennial regional conference has been established, and our World Congress takes place in the region every four years. It was felt, however, that the time was right to fully engage with the ever-expanding and developing community in the Americas in a more dynamic manner. Our existing membership in these countries will benefit greatly from the establishment of new offices and recruitment of an extended staff, as we continue to engage even more members of the community going forward.”
