What’s New in KeyShot 5.2 : SolidWorks 2015 Support and More

Luxion is an advanced 3D rendering, lighting and animation software vendor. Recently Luxion announced release of KeyShot 5.2. Its customer's include many of the Fortune 1000 companies such as Chrysler, Fossil, Microsoft, Motorola, Procter & Gamble, Skullcandy, IDEO and SMART Design.

In this latest release, Luxicon has focused on speed, performance and improved support of 3D file formats. Additional updates include optimizations to motion blur, color accuracy, focused caustics and visibility of emissive material. One of the  notable enhancements in this release is new support for SolidWorks 2015 file formats on Mac as well as Microsoft Windows platform. This feature has been provided through the updated Keyshot plugin for SolidWorks. This plugin is available  free of charge and can be downloaded directly from KeyShot website. The plugin  allows the import of SolidWorks 2015 files via LiveLinking into KeyShot.

With each release Luxion updates its existing LiveLinking technology that connects the 3D modeling application with KeyShot. Users can update their design in their 3D modeling application and can also send the updates to KeyShot. Only the changed parts and layers are transferred to KeyShot without any loss in material, animation or lighting in the model.

Applications and plugins that currently support LiveLinking:

  • Autodesk Fusion 360
  • IronCAD
  • PTC Creo & Pro/ENGINEER
  • Rhinoceros
  • Siemens Solid Edge
  • solidThinking Evolve
  • Dassault Systemes SolidWorks
  • Pixologic ZBrush

Customers with subscription can download KeyShot 5.2 as a free upgrade.  For potential customers the KeyShot starts at $995 with Pro versions with add-ons for animation and interactive KeyShotVR capabilities
