You Could Be a Judge at the Formula SAE Competition

This coming June, one hundred teams and about 1500 engineering students will participate in the 2015 Formula SAE competition in Lincoln, Nebraska. The event will feature University teams racing their electric and internal combustion engine vehicles in what has become a renowned engineering competition.

To keep the competition on track, the organization is looking for 250 volunteers from engineering, automotive, motorsport and academic backgrounds.

The first group of volunteers should be versed in engineering design, manufacturing, cost estimates, management and sales. These individuals will assist in the static events that judge teams in terms of the cost, design and sales presentations of their cars.

The second group of volunteers will function as technical inspectors. These individuals should be knowledgeable in vehicle engineering, design, fabrication and battery management. Their role will be to scrutinize the cars to ensure they meet with the rules, restrictions and requirements of the competition. To assist in this task, inspectors will be given a checklist before the competition starts.

Volunteers will need to commit one to four days of their time to be considered. To volunteer, please contact Kaley Zundel at kzundel@sae.org—and tell them ENGINEERING.com sent you.
