Deskartes Updates Expert Series 3D Printing Prep Software

Deskartes has announced the release of version 10.2.1 of its Expert Series additive manufacturing and simulation data preparation software.

In its newest incarnation, Deskartes includes a new 3D CAD conversion package that enables color 3D printing. With the new conversion tool users can bring in colors (but not textures) that were applied to a part in an assembly. What’s more, colored models can also be imported from software like 3DEdit Pro, ZEdit and ColoutIT via Deskartes’ .3de native file format.

With these new features users can bring their prints to life in ways that were previously impossible.

Beyond its color-assignment feature, Deskartes Expert Series now supports a number of common file formats (STEP, CATIA 4/5/6, SOLIDWORKS, Solid Edge, NX Unigraphics, Creo/ProE, Inventor, JT and CGR) that weren’t available in previous releases.

In addition, the Expert Series features Dimension Expert, a tool that gives users the ability to split models that might be too large for some printers. Dimension Expert also features a robust .STL repair tool for fixing common STL problems.

The Expert Series’ last program of note is Sim Expert. With Sim Expert users can simplify their multifaceted STL models to prepare them for simulation. By using Sim Expert users can slash the time it takes to run a simulation while guaranteeing accurate results.

Deskartes Expert Series is available online immediately.
