Research Initiative to Simplify Manufacturing Processes with Industry 4.0 Strategy

A new research initiative aiming to advance data-driven optimization on complex manufacturing processes has found funding. Soon, the term “Smart Factory” will enter common language.

The initiative will allow individual machines to communicate between each other and the manufacturer.

"The Ministry's funding of Jedox's advanced data analytics technology demonstrates the potential of Data Analytics in optimizing manufacturing processes,” says Jedox CTO Matthias Krämer. “We look forward to heading up a team of leading innovators and using our considerable experience and knowledge to drive forward the development of inline measurement techniques.”

The performance enhancing software is designed to allow real-time evaluation of Big Data and to automate decision making and evaluation in the manufacturing process.

The innovation consortium will be led by advanced analytics provider Jedox, including Fraunhofer IPM, Carl Zeiss, automotive supplier Fischer IMF and sensor manufacturer Micronas.

What else could this partnership imply? According to Dr. Carl, Fraunhofer and Jedox could have a closely tied future. “I envision deployment of Jedox in many Fraunhofer IPM Measurement Systems."

Optimizations for challenges by growing data volumes and demands for optimized quality management will be demonstrated over a planned course of two-and-a-half years. The project will receive funding by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
